House 20-14
Schematic Design Phase
House 20-14 is a 235 square-meter residence located at Samal, Bataan. The site is on an existing farm that is filled with fruit-bearing trees and vegetable crops. It is a 3-bedroom weekend farmhouse, serving as a respite from city life of its inhabitants.
The house is an archetype of a “bahay-kubo”, traditional Filipino dwellings that are either elevated with the use of stilts, or built directly on the ground. This archetype creates a sense of familiarity and a domestic aesthetic. The presence of the structure must be visually seamless to the agricultural context of the site.The design is a contemporary Filipino architecture, with details and materials reflecting traditional elements.
