House 20-12
Completed
The Lakeview House is a two-storey vacation home situated in Tagaytay City. Positioned on a plateau-like site, the house is accessible via a staircase leading up to the entrance. Surrounding gardens create natural boundaries around the property, enhancing its sense of privacy and tranquility. An outdoor sculpture graces the front sloping garden, providing a focal point for all to appreciate. At the rear, the lanai offers a captivating view of Taal Lake and Volcano. Designed to maximize these views, the interior is further enriched with a curated collection of artworks, adding a touch of sophistication and personal style. Inside, the living spaces are thoughtfully arranged to ensure that the lake and volcano views remain a central feature.

Visitors are greeted by an open space featuring sculptural stairs that serve both as a functional connection between the public area and the private area, and as a striking visual centerpiece. A full two-story glass façade showcases the stairs from the outside, while a hanging light fixture artfully illuminates the staircase, casting a warm glow on the steps. Both the living room and the family room are designed to take full advantage of the panoramic views. The open kitchen serves as a social gathering space. The guest bedroom is thoughtfully positioned as a separate, detached space, offering privacy and a view of the beautifully landscaped front garden. On the second floor, the bedrooms include a sliding glass partition that can be opened to seamlessly connect and expand with the family area, enhancing the sense of openness and flow between the two areas and fostering a cohesive, airy living environment. Wooden panels in the bedrooms create a warmer, more private atmosphere.

The exposed steel structures showcase the construction methodology, with the voids filled by masonry and glass. A solid wood door contrasts with the structural elements, balancing the façade. The industrial composition is softened by adobe cladding, which hints at inspiration from traditional houses. A simple metal roof shields the house from the elements, featuring ample dark-colored eaves with built-in ventilation screens to exhaust heat buildup. Wooden furniture adds warmth to the spaces, while linen curtains gently diffuse sunlight. Dark-colored cabinetry contrasts with the lightness and airiness of the house. A smart lighting system adjusts the interior mood, and the hanging track lights focus illumination on the artworks. The family area features a sophisticated sound system, enhancing its role as a recreational space.
The architectural style of The Lakeview House blends tropical and minimalist design principles. Tropical elements infuse warmth and a connection to the natural surroundings, while the minimalist aesthetic ensures that the architecture remains understated and refined. This combination creates a subtle yet impactful design that harmonizes with the environment, allowing the natural beauty of Tagaytay to be an integral part of the living experience.
